ColumbiaDC Ukraine Emergency helpline

We have launched an emergency donation drive in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to help support displaced Ukrainian families with critical aid. One of the best ways you can help right now is by rushing an emergency donation to help us assist those in crisis. ColumbiaDC will match donations up to $2500 total. The deadline for donations is Sunday 03/13/22.

In the past, we have showcased IRC's humanitarian efforts in Syria and Afghanistan and have been privileged to host George Rupp, President Emeritus at IRC and Past President of Columbia University, as well as Ruben Chandrasekar, IRC's Executive Director in Baltimore and Silver Spring. Their endorsement and support have been key in making this a reality.

IRC is on the ground in Poland, and working with local partners in both Poland and Ukraine. In the early stages of their response, the IRC will provide essential items that people displaced from Ukraine need. These include blankets, warm clothes, cookstoves, groceries, basic supplies, and—where possible—cash. Through their partners, the IRC will also connect people with information about asylum and available services including legal counseling and psychological support.

The IRC is consistently awarded top marks by charity watchdog groups for their efficient use of donor contributions and the effectiveness of their work. Read more reasons to support IRC.
